Akmal’s ban procedure claims question

Pakistan cricket board banned Umar akmal for 3 years. This story started many days ago. At the starting of PSL , Pakistan kept Umar Akmal away from cricket. That time PCB explained that he broke anti corruption laws and so he would not play any match in PSL.

Pakistani media told that Umar Akmal confessed everything before Pakistan cricket anti corruption unit. Not only Umar Akmal , a cricketer of Karachi Kings also was noticed to use mobile phone in the dug out. But still there is no news to take action against that.

Umar Akmal did not appeal though he had a chance to do it. But the punishment style is not the same and ICC is not seemed to be handle everywhere. For likely this case Mohammed Irfan sat down for 6 months, Mohammed Nawaz was kept away for only 2 month, Shakib got two years ban with one year suspend.

The story tells that Umar was approached by two individual people and he didn’t inform PCB about that.  “He was repeatedly attempting to justify his folly,” said by Taffazul Rizvi, the PCB counsel, told the media about Umar.

“His reply was confusing, he neither accepted his position nor denied it. He did admit the questionable incidents yet was offering frivolous justifications for non-reporting. When you admit violation, you leave yourself to the mercy of the tribunal. There is no general exception in the anti-corruption code that you report on your wish or convenience. You either report or do not report.”

“Even today, the  judge asked him [Akmal] on a clear note if he accepts his indiscretions, but he insisted on justifying his failures,” Rizvi.

In the same situation Shakib from Bangladesh confessed everything to ICC and did help directly to find out everything. Question is, why ICC can not interfere PSL while they had done this before with BPL. He was charged on two counts, for two different unrelated incidents while Mohammad Irfan and others had completely different cases and it should be remembered.

Pakistan great Ramiz raza wants more punishment so that the future players should realize it’s importance. “This three-year ban on the basis of non-reporting is considered appropriate. The PCB was asking for a stiffer sentence. It’s high time that duration of the ban should be increased because it’s very clear that players are not learning the lessons as much as they should have. So as far as the legal side is concerned, I am very satisfied as the duration of the ban is reasonable, justified and proportionate.”
